The holy month of Ramadan is just around the corner and the skilled and talented chefs at Thistle Johor Bahru will revisit recipes of authentic kampung dishes for Malaysians from all walks of life to enjoy.

The Flavours of Kampungku Ramadan Buffet will be adapting an outdoor concept in which diners get to dine by the pool while reminiscing of the good old days where nenek used to cook traditional dishes during the holy month of Ramadan. Break your fast with delicious dates and a variety of Ramadan juices to quench your thirst. Then, visit the authentic Gulai Kawah Spread featuring a variety of kampung dishes such as Rendang Rusa, Ayam Masak Kurma, Daging Masak Hitam, Kambing Masak Masala, Bubur Lambuk Lemak, Gulai Ikan Aya, Kambing Masak Kuzi, Kerutub Itik, Ayam Masak Madu, Gulai Daging, Kambing Masak Kurma and Patin Masak Cili to name a few.

Your nostalgic journey doesn’t end there! Make sure you swing by the live cooking stations preparing your favourite kampung dishes a la minute. The most popular is the Roasted Whole Lamb served with your favourite sauces such as BBQ Sauce, Mint Sauce, Mustard and Black Pepper Sauce. The famous Soup Station will feature favourites such as Sup Tulang, Sup Ekor, Sup Lidah, Sup Urat, Sup Perut, Sup Ayam, Sup Kambing and Soto.

The live action ‘stations’ will also showcase favourites such as Lamb, Chicken and Beef Satay, Lontong, Lemang, Bubur Lambuk and of course, D24 and Udang Merah Durians. Light snacks such as Keropok Lekor, Keropok Ikan, Spring Rolls and a variety of dim sums and dumplings will definitely make you come back for more.

The spread will also feature freshly made pizza and chicken shawarma with pita bread with condiments and also a live action station dedicated to our famous seafood paella. If you are a fan of grilled fish, remember to visit the ikan bakar station which will be serving up tilapia, dory, hardtail mackerel (cencaru), stingray, black mussels, clams with a variety of sauces such as chili kicap, air assam, sambal hijau, sambal jawa, sambal belacan and sambal chili kelapa.

Save the best for last at the sweet temptation corner. This Ramadan, Thistle Johor Bahru will be showcasing a wide variety of local and international desserts that are sure to delight diners. The dessert counter will feature 6 different cakes, 20 types of Malay ‘kuih’ and desserts such as Penderam, Kuih Bakar, Wajik, Dodol, Halwa Maskat, Seri Muka, Bingka Ubi, Lepat Ubi and Pisang, Talam Suji and many more will be served at the dessert buffet. If you prefer to opt for something western, check out the selection of puddings, sweet porridges, the chocolate fountain and an assortment of ice cream flavours.

Be entertained by a special Ghazal performance throughout the ‘buka puasa’ period and break for prayers at prayer rooms provided by the hotel. The buffet by the pool starts from 28 May 2017 onwards and is available until 10.30pm. The early bird promotion which runs from now till 27 May 2017 is priced at RM108nett per adult and RM54nett for children aged 6 to 12 years old. The normal price, from 28 May 2017 onwards is RM128nett per adult and RM65nett for children aged 6 to 12 years old.
